Former President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, as well as senior officials of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport were also present.
The President of KOC, Besim Hasani spoke about the purpose of this day, with particular emphasis on the promotion of women in sport.
"We gather here today to mark this day with the sublime goal of promoting women in sport. Community sport is 100% mobilised, so that women are involved in every sport field," - said Mr Hasani.
The President of the Republic, Hashim Thaçi encouraged women to engage in sports and follow the footsteps of Kosovan champions:
"I encourage all Kosovan women to follow the example of Majlinda Kelmendi, Olympic champion in judo, other judokas as Nora Gjakova and Distria Krasniqi and many other athletes who have raised the flag of the state of Kosovo everywhere in the world by winning gold medals. In the 11 years of the Independence of Kosovo women have brought the greatest success to the country," - said President Hashim Thaçi.
At the event, female athletes of various teams practiced sports, including football, handball, volleyball, and boxing. Some of these sports were also practiced by President Hashim Thaçi and former President Atifete Jahjaga and others.
At the end of the event, as the tradition has it, the KOC leaders, along with the other participants, headed to the campus of the University of Prishtina, where they planted the 2019 Olympic Tree, while the sports clubs planted another 50 trees.
