Dear Colleagues,
European policies have a considerable and growing impact on sport. The EU's approach to sport therefore deserves a well-founded and consistent approach. This is why Commissioner Figel' has the intention to launch in 2007 a White Paper on Sport in the European Union.
The planned White Paper will focus on three key elements: the role of sport in European society, the economic impact of sport, and the organisational aspects of sport in Europe.
In order to allow the European sport community to contribute to the planned White Paper, a number of consultations with the sport movement were already organised in 2006.
The time has now come to open this consultation process to all. The European Commission therefore launches an online public consultation which covers all three aspects to be tackled in the planned White Paper.
The European Commission invites stakeholders (organisations and individuals active in the sector) to express their views. For that purpose, a questionnaire has been put on the "Your Voice in Europe" webpage.
The deadline for answers/contributions is 3 April 2007.
