ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

ENGSO
a Pan-European sports organisation

European National Sports Confederations and National Olympic Committees, if they are the national umbrella organisations for sports, form the association "European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation" (ENGSO) which is a non-profit making or distributing organisation with public responsibilities with seat in House of Sports in Paris, France. This means that the members of ENGSO represent the national sport in its broadest sense - from children and youth sports, over "sport for all" activities to elite sports. ENGSO presently has 40 national umbrella sports organisations as members and 1 organisation as observer. ENGSO is today the only European sports organisation having been granted consultative status by the Council of Europe.

Dear ENGSO Friends,

We would like to thank for the excellent opportunity of having the 16th edition of the ENGSO General Assembly organized so wonderfully in Istanbul, by the ENGSO member, Turkish Olympic Committee, celebrating also its 100th anniversary.

In the atmosphere of active cooperation and friendship ENGSO succeeded in confirming its mission and making another step towards its vision.

With the high goals set by the ENGSO Strategic Plan, this was yet another chance to see what has been done in the past year and what lays ahead.

Much accomplished during the conferences and meetings held in the whole world in which ENGSO took part, in all contacts made over the years with the GOs and NGOs, ENGSO has made significant impact on the policy making in European sports.

It was great to hear and see the appreciation for the work of ENGSO and its Working Groups.

ENGSO means to continue with the high engagement and commitment of ENGSO ExCom and its Working groups, aspiring to include all its members, as more needs to be done as we carry on in fulfilling our mission and vision. Concrete projects wait to be realised and with the new possibilities ENGSO has been given, there are so many things that could be done. For this to become true, once again we need your pro-active approach, like so many times before. We must make it happen, for the benefit all through sport and physical activities.

Once again, we would like to thank the Olympic Committee of Turkey for their outstanding organisation and for the spirit of friendship they caused to spread and grow.

Allow us to thank all those who could take part in the General Assembly as well as all those who supported us in our efforts to create better conditions for sport and physical activities in Europe. We thank all our members for their excellent contribution and wish to see all of them and our partners in even greater number when we meet for the ENGSO Forum in Stockholm, October 24-26.

See you all in Stockholm!
