ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

  FORUM     9th ENGSO-FORUM, 26-28 October 2006, Budapest

At the proposal of the Hungarian Sports Confederation, the 9th ENGSO Forum was held in Budapest, Hotel Stadion, on October 27, and 28, 2006.

The programme was based on four main topics – EU Issues, Sport and Employment, Sport as Health Promoter and the Future of ENGSO. There was also ENGSO ENTER Project of Leadership for Women presented by CCPR, a report of Youth Committee and certainly the Report from the CoE Sports Minister Meeting in Moscow.

In its past work and committed to the vision of sport in Europe, not only has ENGSO included the promotion of gender equality in its different policy fields but gender mainstreaming has been explicitly mentioned as a principle to be considered in all ENGSO activities, and the ENGSO vision still remains that the culture of European sport will have to recognise and support leadership shared equally by men and women – young and old.

In January 2005, a number of ENGSO member countries held a brainstorming meeting to develop the ENTER! programme.  Subsequently, many other countries announced their interest in taking part. Leadership and Mentorship Programme for Women took another form and became Leadership Programme for Women, never excluding all others that need to be equally recognized.

In May 2006, in Japan, 12 member countries met to discuss UK's Women leadership Development Programme which had received Olympic Solidarity Fund. It was agreed that this proposal would form the basis of the ENGSO ENTER! programme.

You will find attached a paper of great interest that outlines the details of the programme and includes a proposal for accessing funding to take this work forward. We must underline that this programme is for national organisations with the possibility of some women being selected for International Federation representation.  These women can be senior volunteers or paid employees in a management capacity, but will need to have the institutional support of their organisation.

We await you support and your active participation in this programme. It would be great if the member countries would ENTER their members for this programme and let us know, both Sallie Barker and ENGSO Secretariat of their participation. It is necessary to be in and ENTER, as we all can.

- The ENTER Programme
- ENTER Budget

Dear Colleague
Thank you for confirming your interest in the proposed ENGSO ENTER! programme which was discussed at the Forum last weekend.   In our previous e-mail on the programme (and at the Forum), we said that there would be a meeting at the beginning of December to discuss the programme in more detail.  However, as we have received feedback from some countries that further time is required to confirm their attendance (and as there are still more countries that wish to be involved), we have decided to change the date of the meeting to the 27/28th January at the NOC in Paris.  The purpose of the meeting is to:
  • explain the programme in detail
  • consider whether it meets the needs of all member countries
  • agree how the programme will be managed both on a European and national levels
  • discuss the budget in detail and ensure it covers all costs
  • begin to produce the application for funding - on 28th January
I would be grateful if you could let me know whether you are able to attend the meeting in January in Paris.  Further information on the accommodation will be distributed as soon as it is available.
I attach another copy of the paper previously distributed on the programme as requested.
I look forward to working with you on this project
