ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

History of the ENGSO Youth Committee

Background
In 1996, the ENGSO General Assembly set up a working group “ENGSO Youth Policy and Activities”. The main task for this group was to formulate and prepare guidelines for children and youth work within the member countries of ENGSO. This work resulted in the approval of the “Guidelines for Children and Youth Sport” at the 6th ENGSO General Assembly held in Iceland in 1998. The General Assembly also decided to establish a working group, led by Norway, to start the work on the implementation of the Guidelines. At the General Assembly in Finland in 2001, the Chair, Kristin Berthelsen, reported from the working group “Youth for European Sport” achievements and their recommendations for the future within sport for children and youth. The General Assembly approved the report.

European Youth Conferences has been a success providing young people, together with grown-up leaders from all over Europe with the opportunity to share ideas and discuss children and youth sport issues. The conference has been arranged two times, in Bergen in 1997 and in Nymburk in 2000.
