ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

SPORT YOUTH GOES EUROPE

At the beginning of 2000, on initiative of the German Sports Youth (Deutsche Sportjugend) eight national sport umbrella organisations from eight European countries started to co-operate in the „Network for the European Youth Work in Sports – Sport Youth goes Europe“. These partners have joined forces on European level to engage and lobby for the interests of young people that are organised in sport clubs and federations.

From the beginning it had been the main aim of the network to focus on the non-competitive side of sport in which sport is a tool to work with young people and sport is a tool for non-formal education. The partners are convinced by the idea that there is more to sport than training and competition.

A major part in the network was and still is the exchange of information about national (youth) sport structures, the involvement of young people in those structures and the co-operation between youth and sport organisations on national and European level.

Granted by the European Commission the partners have developed a web-site on youth sport/youth work in sport in Europe as common and usable communication platform. Here young people and multipliers active in the field of youth work can find information about youth and sport structures, institutions, policies, programmes and a book of good ideas on European level as well as information about youth sport in the countries in French and English.
