ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

ENGSO Development Group (EDG) 5th Newsletter, February 2007

ENGSO Developmenet Group task almost fulfilled

Based on a thorough evaluation of ENGSO today and taking into account the needs and
wishes of ENGSO members, as well as paying attention to the input from relevant
stakeholders in Europe, the ENGSO Strategic Plan (2007-2011) will be presented to the
ExCom by the ENGSO Development Group in the end of February 2007.The Plan is to be
presented by the ExCom to the ENGSO members at the General Assembly in May 2007.
An important step taken in the process leading up to the final product was the Reference
Group Meeting in Bratislava from 2-4 February. During this two days'meeting representatives
of almost 20 ENGSO me mbers participated in fruitful plenary and group discussions, tackling
various issues.

Highlights of the draft Strategic Plan

Below is a very short and condensed summary of the suggestions found in the draft Strategic
Plan, as also discussed with the Reference Group earlier this month:

The new ENGSO vision is to be the voice of organised sport in Europe.

The new ENGSO mission is to promote the interests of sport in Europe.

The four ENGSO activity areas (2007-2011) are:
1. Influence the sports political agenda by outlining and implementing a strategic
approach for acting within the sports political field
2. Upgrade and consolidate the ENGSO internal organisation
3. Develop clear and effective profile and communication methods
4. Identify and obtain new organisational resources

To strengthen the role of ENGSO and to facilitate the future tasks identified in the strategic
plan, it is also necessary to make changes to the organisation (structure, human resources) and
its working methods.

Important next steps

At February the 28th 2007 the EDG will submit the proposed Strategic plan to the Executive
Committee. The ENGSO secretariat will distribute the plan to ENGSO members in
March, as part of the General Assembly documents. Finally we look forward to an
interesting and active General Assembly in Helsinki the 4-5th of May 2007.
