ENGSO Development Group (EDG) – Newsletter 2, March 2006
ENGSO Development Process – goals to reach According to a decision taken by ENGSO-ExCom in August 2005 an ENGSO Development Group was established. The three main tasks of the group are: - Evaluation of ENGSO’s role, aims, policies and strategies - Identifying a mission statement and important areas for ENGSO - Outlining a long-term strategic plan for ENGSO
Important input by Reference Group – a forward-looking team is gathered To get further input on what the members of ENGSO have in mind connected to important future issues; a reference group meeting was held in Paris the 18th of March.
The participants of the reference group are: Sallie Barker,Confederation of British Sport c/o The Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR) Gabor Elert/Tamas Nagy, Hungarian Sports Confederation Björn Omar Evju, Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sports Sölvi Reinert-Hansen, The Faroese Confederation of Sports and Olympic Committee Marlies Rydzy-Götz, Deutscher Sportbund Svetoslav Ivanov, Bulgarian Sport Confederation
At the Paris-meeting, four reference group participants were not able to attend, but these are following the process on a distance; Jens Brinch, Grönlands Idraets Forbund Eilert Schramm, National Olympic and Sports Association of Iceland Juri Jurev, Russian Olympic Committee Rose-Mary Paul-Chopin, Comité National Olympique et Sportif Francais
Analysis of the past and the future of ENGSO At the first reference group meeting in Paris, at which both the ExCom, the EDG and of course the reference group was present; an analysis of ENGSO’s role, aims, policies and strategies was made. The tool used for this process was the SWOT-analysis, looking at ENGSOs Strengths and Weaknesses, and at Opportunities and Threats. The results of this exercise will be used to continue the future development discussions. Coming steps in the process will include analysis of the mission statement and core values of ENGSO.
Preliminary timeframe for the ENGSO Development process- 5-7 May 2006, General Assembly Malta: EDG gives input at the GA on the process. - 8-9 August 2006, Gothenburg: EDG-meeting. - 27-29 October 2006, ENGSO Forum in Budapest: EDG-input and development discussion at Forum. - November 2006 EDG-meeting. - Spring 2007 EDG-meeting and 2nd Reference Group meeting. - April/May 2007: Final report to ENGSO ExCom and General Assembly.
Members of the ENGSO Development Group (EDG) To get more information on the ENGSO Development process so far, you can contact the members of the EDG; they are: Mr. Zdenko Kriz (Slovak Association of Physical Culture); Mrs. Marije Dippel (Netherlands Olympic Committee*Netherlands Sports Confederation); Mrs. Ilonda Luse (ENGSO Youth) and Mr. Toomas Tönise (Estonian Central Sports Union); ENGSO General Secretary, Mr. Predrag Manojlovic (ex officio) is also a member of the group as well as ENGSO ExCom President Mr. Bengt Sevelius (ex officio). The group is chaired by two process-leaders, Mr. Stefan Bergh (head) and Mrs. Catarina Arfwidsson (vice). Any questions related to the EDG-process can also be forwarded to the process-leaders.
