ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

DECISIONS AND PROPOSALS

Ø        Having adopted the Minutes of the ExCom meeting in Helsinki, members of the ExCom showed great satisfaction with the way 8th Forum concluded, primarily due to the current crucial topics for sport in Europe that it presented and very active input of all its participants anticipating thus a new current that is taking shape.

Ø        Following the request expressed during the Forum, the most important decisions from ExCom meetings will be included in the e-mail call in a form of summary report and sent out to all ENGSO members and Forum participants.

Ø        It was concluded that the ENGSO Secretariat will send out an invitation for signal of interest to all ENGSO members in order to decide on the future organizers of FORA for the next period until 2008.

Ø        Having studied the reports from meetings of EFPM, ESC, CDDS, and the Sports Unit in the EU Commission, it was proposed that the situation has to be followed very closely as, due to the present situation with the CDDS and other sports institutions, sport can have a major problem in the 21st century.

Ø        In view of applications from various European organizations for membership, it was concluded that the ENGSO will act strictly in accordance with the Statutes and discuss about this issue in the ENGSO Development Group. However, ENGSO will always be open for participation of all interested organizations and institutions in ENGSO Forum.

Ø        ENGSO is in the process of being registered in the House of Olympic Sports of Comité national olympique et sportif français, and amended Statutes in French and in English will be prepared for the General Assembly 2006 in Malta for adoption. The registration will be a step forward for ENGSO to receive EU funding for its projects.

Ø        The ENGSO Development Group was formed with Zdenko Kriz (Slovakia), Marije Dippel (the Netherlands), Ilonda Luse (ENGSO Youth, Latvia), and Toomas Tönise (Estonia), as members, Stefan Bergh and Catarina Arfwidsson (Sweden) as Process Leaders, and Bengt Sevelius, Predrag Manojlovic as ex officio members. The three main tasks of the group will be:

o                     Evaluation of ENGSO’s role, aims, policies and strategies

o                     Identifying a mission statement and important areas for ENGSO

o                     Outlining a long-term strategic plan for ENGSO

The process will run until the General Assembly of 2007, when the mission of the group will be completed. Along the process there will be a couple of meetings, when reports will be given. Presentations on the work of the group will be given at the General Assembly 2006 and also at the ENGSO Forum 2006.

Ø         ENGSO ExCom has decided to establish direct contact with the EU Sport Unit and the Directorate responsible for Sports and Youth. The task of the ENGSO will be to find a new channel of communication and new approach to new and/or non-EU countries, being present in Brussels, building its own relationships and being active.

Ø        It was agreed that Mrs. Kervinen and Rydzy-Goetz should continue the work for developing the ENGSO Project “Monitoring and Leadership for Women”, represent ENGSO in EWS and contact the EU Sport Unit for cooperation in equality matters.

Ø        Due to difficulties with the current server, ExCom proposed transfer of the webhosting to the ENGSO Secretariat, after all possibilities have been examined.

Ø        The ENGSO meetings to be held before the GA 2006 in Malta are the EDG meeting on November 17/18, ExCom meeting January 20-22, 2006, in Malta, EDG and ExCom March 17-18, 2006 (venue to be decided).
