ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

DECISIONS AND PROPOSALS

Ø        ENGSO ExCom members adopted the Minutes of the ExCom meeting in Malta, and the Draft agenda for the Meeting in Paris, stressing the importance of the forthcoming General Assembly in Malta, and crucial issues that it is going to address.

Ø        Members also expressed their gratitude to the CNOSF for their willingness to accept the seat of ENGSO to be in Paris, France, the House of Sports.

Ø        Having adopted the ExCom Agenda, the members undertook the issue of the ENGSO Extraordinary and Ordinary GA Program and Draft Agenda.

o           The material prepared for the ENGSO GA has been well studied and responsibilities and tasks given out. Starting on the issues right from March 20, 2006, all documents will be prepared and sent out in accordance with the deadlines set. It was decided as well that in addition to sending out material to ENGSO members, partners and invited parties, all documents will be posted on the website as well.

o           The papers prepared by ExCom members have been adopted, as well as the report from the “Round Table Sport for All”.

o           Due to celebration of 100th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey in 2008, it was requested from ENGSO ExCom to consider organization of ENGSO General Assembly in 2008 and not 2007 as previously decided and agreed upon. The reasons expressed in their letter were accepted, and with the proposal of the Sports Confederation of Finland, it was decided that the 15th General Assembly 2007 be held in Finland, and the 16th edition in Istanbul, Turkey.

o           Also, ExCom thanked both the Hungarian Sports Confederation and the Faroese Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee for their kind proposals to organize the 2006 Forum. It was decided that the Forum this year be held in Budapest, Hungary, and the next ENGSO ExCom in Faroe Islands, as a preparation for some big event to be held there in near future.

Ø        It was also decided that the invitation for ENGSO GA be sent to partner organizations, observers, EFPM, European Paralympic Committee, COJI, and others with interest to ENGSO.

Ø        Related to the ENGSO contribution to the EU Green Paper of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Health, due to the fact that ENGSO represents the sport of Europe in its broadest sense, its members, being the national umbrella organisations of sport offer through their members since many years regular physical activities and special campaigns for all ages. The recommendation coming from ENGSO is to try to involve the European Sports Movement, and improve health education and practical physical activities in the compulsory school system as much as possible in the fight against obesity and for better health in the whole of Europe.

Ø        ExCom Members expressed satisfaction for the ENGSO Engagement in “The Fan Convention” organized by the Council of Europe (Directorate of Youth and Sport) in Europa Park, Rust, Germany, June 4-7, 2006. It was concluded that all ExCom members will help out with the project created to stop violence, by engaging football teachers and coaches from many European countries.

Ø        Visit of ENGSO delegation to EU Sport Unit in Brussels, to the satisfaction of all participants, was yet another opportunity to deepen the relations between EU Sport Unit and ENGSO. Both parties expressed the necessity of strengthening position of sport in the Union. ENGSO presented their expectations on EU in future, emphasizing main aims and importance of dialogue before any decisions are taken related to the European Sports Movement.

Ø        EU Sport Coordinator Program held in Finland was a success. The first step is to form a curriculum for training of people employed at sports facilities. At least two test courses will be arranged during the coming year.

Ø        The meeting of the ENGSO Development and Reference Group proved to be of extreme importance, as all very actively took part in discussing about the future of ENGSO and giving their contribution in what ENGSO could mean and have as goals in future. Beside the General Assembly in Malta and the Forum in Budapest as key points where the results of their research is going to be presented and discussed, the Reference Group will meet again some time early next year to confirm the course of action decided upon during the GA in Helsinki 2007.

Ø        The following ENGSO ExCom meetings are before the GA 2006 in Malta, ExCom meeting on Faeroe Islands, August 25-27, 2006, and before the Forum in Budapest, in mid October.

Ø        France Olympic and Sports Federation has put forward a proposal for organization of the 2009 General Assembly in Paris.

Ø        All member emphasized again the importance of the work that has been done by CNOSF in preparing all documents for ENGSO to be registered in the House of Sports, thanking the host for the excellent conditions provided to the ExCom members in the House of Sports.
